AT 10+ Year Time Line
June 1996 – HS graduation (and didn’t look back for awhile)
August 1996 – Off to Happy Appie (ASU), Boone NC (got lost in the land of paints, people, and art history)
May 2000 – Graduated with a Degree in Fine Arts, painting concentration with printmaking and alloys in tow. One class short of minor in religion (Hebrew was a bear.)
Aug 2000 – Drove across country and ended up in Eugene OR.
Lovely place to live, a tough place to find work, I did have the chance to get out and I explored many streams (learned how to fly fish), trekked thru back country, and met a fella. Moved there with the notion of getting residences because I tossed around the idea of attending U of O (to be a Duck) to get my Masters of Arch.
Sept. 11th occurred.
Oct 2001 – Moved back east, to FLORDIA, woozier! Worked at a homeless shelter for 3 or so months then felt the call of the west. Little stop over in NC to explore the blue ridge before I went all the way west.
May 2002 – Headed on out to Montana. Learned from my first move, make sure you have a job lined up before you go… So I was a member of the Montana Conservation Corps (Americorps program), which taught me how to live and work in the back country.
I started baking bread and sweets at a local bakery and working with developmentally disabled (weekend work) – both continued for 2+ years
2003 – Signed up for another term with MCC – Senior Crew Leader
2004 – Stayed on with MCC in the Office. Started lap swimming daily – life savor. Started tutoring at a alternative high school and for younger kids (math).
Summer 2005 – Worked seasonally in Yellowstone National Park, with the Youth Conservation Corps, taking kids out in YNP, teaching them many life and job skills.
Fall 2005 - Then started the Architecture program at Montana State University (would not recommend it to anyone over 18). Full time student for a year
Winter 2006- Started working full time with Intrinsik Arch., pulled the brake on the architecture program that winter.
2007- Not my favorite year, lost some friendships, people passed, people got sick, lessons learned – always growing. Learned a little about Love and a lot about me. Took a few trips east and spent the holidays with my family.
2008 – looking to be a great year, a few trips planned and new job and education goals on the horizon.
There it is a brief Anne Tyler over view. Sure there are many gaps to fill in. Like all my trips to Glacier National Park or adventures in YNP on skis at -15 degree weather on new years… but details are so time consuming (wink).
